A complete custom lantern festival spread across 50 acres of a bustling urban city park, featuring six distinct themed zones that transported visitors to different worlds. The festival included a fantasy castle zone with a 15-meter illuminated palace, an underwater world with glowing sea creatures, a dinosaur adventure with life-sized animated prehistoric creatures, a floral wonderland with giant blooming flowers, an international food court, and a central lake with floating lantern displays and nightly water shows.
Creating a six-zone custom festival on a 50-acre urban park site required meticulous planning for crowd flow, safety, and infrastructure. The park was an active public space, meaning installation could only begin after dark and all equipment had to be transported through narrow park roads. The central lake added complexity, requiring floating platforms, underwater electrical connections, and water-safe lantern designs. Local regulations mandated specific crowd management plans, emergency evacuation routes, and noise restrictions after 10 PM.
Each of the six zones was designed as a self-contained world with its own color palette, music, and atmosphere. The fantasy castle zone featured a 15-meter illuminated castle with animated flags, glowing windows, and surrounding mythical creatures including unicorns and griffins. The underwater world zone used blue and teal lighting to create an aquatic atmosphere, with a 12-meter whale, schools of fish lanterns, and coral reef sculptures. The dinosaur zone featured 15 life-sized animated dinosaurs with realistic movements and sound effects. The floral wonderland showcased giant flowers that opened and closed with programmable mechanisms. The central lake featured 30 floating lanterns and a nightly 10-minute water and light show synchronized to music.

Production spanned 12 weeks at our Zigong facility, with over 80 artisans working on the various zones simultaneously. The festival required 8 shipping containers to transport all components. On-site installation took 21 days with a team of 35 technicians, working in coordinated zone teams. The lake installations required certified divers for underwater electrical connections, and all floating platforms were engineered for stability in varying water levels. Crowd management infrastructure included 12 entrance/exit points, 6 first aid stations, and a central control room monitoring crowd density in real time.
The six-week festival drew over 450,000 visitors, making it the largest paid attraction in the city history. Peak nights saw 20,000+ visitors simultaneously on site, with crowd management systems ensuring safe and comfortable conditions throughout. The festival generated $4.2 million in revenue, with a 35% return on investment for the city. Social media coverage generated over 12 million impressions, with visitor-created content driving significant organic reach. The festival won the city Best Cultural Event award and has been renewed for an annual run, with our team designing 40% new content each season to encourage repeat visits.
